This week I have been helping the DBEM by sewing up half a dozen of the little cardigans and sweaters she has knitted. Our temperatures are dropping as Autumn arrives and she is getting anxious to take her "produce" to the Hospice Shop for them to sell. However sewing up and attaching buttons is now beyond her so yours truly to the rescue. She vows that she will not buy any more wool and will instead knit up her stockpile. I don't believe her:-)
The buttons on this flecked red cardigan were sent to me all the way from Asahikawa, Japan. Do you remember these Yuko?
For the past two weeks the DBEM has been most unwell and had a minor fall at home. I am amazed at how much this has decreased her confidence and she now uses her Zimmer frame all the time. The radius of our "circle of adventures" is now quite small; simple pleasures it shall be from now on:-)

Oh Margaret, it's so hard watching our mums age and lose their independence and also to see their mobility decrease. It's good that she is still taking an interest in knitting though, long may it continue.
It is always interesting to me to hear how you are heading into winter and us folks are praying for spring. It can't some fast enough this year...what a winter. Anyway, I think it's great that your mom still knits such lovely items. Yes our lives gradually narrow and I understand totally how scary a fall would be.
Unfortunately for you, when your mother's 'circle of adventures' get smaller, so does yours. I am caring for an elderly person in need of a lot of assistance, and it ties me to the house. Spring is here and the cherry trees will soon open up. Luckily we have a blossoming tree at the front of the house so 'hanami' can be enjoyed through the window.
Your mother has knitted a lovely cardigan and the hospice shop will be happy to receive this gift of love from you and your mother.
Sorry to read that your mother has had a fall. I hope that she regains most, if not all, of her confidence, at some point.
Lovely little cardigan. Sorry to hear about your Mum's failing confidence. Is it possible to get someone to come and sit with her so you can have a day out? Preferably someone who like to sew up little cardigans?

Sorry about your mum... hope she feels more confident as she walks around My MIL has a three wheeler walker and goes like the clappers with it, we have to walk fast to keep up with her. Lovely cardigan and those buttons are perfect.
That red cardigan looks lovely! Your mum must be a very experiences knitter to get her stitches all neat like that, and the two of you are a great team to finish these up. I hope she will get better and a bit more confident again, adventures need to be had!
