- I have just recently retired from work. I love to stitch - mainly traditional pieces of counted work always in Linen and generally with DMC or silks. My other love is reading and I visit the local library nearly every week. My elderly mother lives with me. She is increasingly deaf and quite blind and in this blog is known affectionately as the DBEM.

May she Rest In Peace. Sincere sympathy to you and your extended family.
My thoughts are with you Margaret. She will leave a great gap in your life, after so many years of looking after her and enriching her life. You will have many memories to cherish. Take care, and remember reach out to people and ask for help on the bad days.

Margaret, I am sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I hope you have no regrets about how you cared for her all these years. It came across in your posts that you were a kind and loving daughter to her as well as enjoying her company and I loved the way you referred to her as the DBEM. May you find peace even as you mourn her loss. With much affection from an American friend.
My heart goes out to you - take all the time you need. I hope she's in a place were she can see and enjoy her knitting again.

So sad to hear this news... you and the DBEM have been in my daily prayers, Margaret. Such a grand lady who redeemed her time in so many
creative, useful ways and you;no daughter could have been more devoted.
Yes, picking up the needle once again should restore the tempo of your
days and bring you solace...she would want it so. Blessings.
Oh Margaret, I am so sorry to hear that. Your dear Mother has been a constant presence on your blog since I first started following you.
I do hope you got to spent lots of time with her in the final days and that she passed peacefully knowing how much she was loved.
Everyone who knew her will miss her, especially those hospice shop workers who loved her knitted donations.

Very sorry to hear of your Mothers death. although expected she will leave a big hole in your Life. Lots of treasured memories. Can you share her Christian name a lovely photograph but
DBEM is no more.

I haven’t checked in to your blog in quite a while, and I am saddened to learn of your loss. I know how close you were to your sweet mother. I just lost my sweet father 5 weeks ago and I am broken and lost. We were lucky to have had them in our lives. It will be a huge adjustment. Take care.
