Just how does one hold a cell phone and depress the "take" button with the thumb? I managed this time, accidentally, but am sure I could not repeat the success again!

Away we go
The DBEM and I are off to Wellington while painters titivate my house. We are having a leisurely trip (mainly because of the age of my passenger!) and today drove through Taupo. For some unfathomable reason I hit upon the idea of a selfie. I'm no good at those and after a series of gaffes finally produced this acceptable one.

I'm looking forward to the replies to this one as I've not mastered the art either!
Such a beautiful blue sky Margaret, with two lovely ladies of course! You look happy and relaxed in your new found role.
When you have mastered the art please do tell because I can't do it either, lol
Great photo btw fluke or not :-)
I hope you ladies are having a nice trip!
The photo looks great! I don't "self" myself, my phone doesn't even take photos.
I was using my proper camera at a family BBQ and all the little cousins gathered round to see what it was. They had never seen an actual camera before!
I've tried a couple of times while on holiday and practise is improving my technique!
I'm enjoying the time away but ill be happy to get home and begin preparations for the next stage
Ha ha! I will never master this - it is so hit and miss
We have had good weather so far but it is a lot cooler than I expected
Funny isn't it-to be in the old brigade:-)
Sweet picture of you both. DBEM looks wonderful. I don't know how people do a selfie with one hand either. I have to hold the phone with one hand then click with the other. I've pretty much given up trying to do selfies. I have used the timer on my ipad when here at home wanting to do a selfie, and even struggle with that, lol.
Safe travels.

Thanks Sandy. I do better with a real camera and tripod and would use them if I were not so self conscious at the stares of those who exclusively use devices:)
Lovely to see you with DBEM You both look lovely, enjoy your trip away.
Thanks Chris. It was a good trip but better still to be back home :)
Margaret - its a beautiful selfie. I love following your blog and hope that the cold weather is okay for your drive down the desert road. we had snow here on mt egmont on thursday.
Thank you. We are home again safely and I have been busy with the Neepol and a duster as everything was coated in fine dust after the painters! Maybe some stitching tonight?
