It has been a week of food and farewells at work. With the handover pretty well complete I am in the process of writing my final email and on Friday I will say goodbye to my working life.
The managers kindly bought this super sweet cake and insisted on a photograph! what an awkward pose:-)
Both the DBEM and I are looking forward to the start of a new life but I can assure you that next week will certainly be less food for me!
Margaret dear - May your retirement be a joy-filled and productive experience for you and your beloved DBEM.. May the distractions be delightful surprises and avenues to new adventures. Blessings.
Oh my Margaret, I didn't realise that the date was so close. I'm sure you'll be looking forward to Friday - I know that your mum will most certainly enjoy seeing more of you at home. Take care and enjoy your last few working days.
Congratulations & best wishes! I hope you have a very enjoyable retirement, doing all the many things you've always wanted to do but didn't have those days off. Many blessings....
Good luck on your new adventure in life, Margaret. I can assure you that waking up every morning to a schedule of your own choice is the best feeling in the world. Congratulations on a job well done.
That must have been an exciting week for you, and probably an emotional one as well. I hope you're transition into the 'great R' was smoothly and that you are settling in nicely :)
Wow, that arrived quicker than I thought! You've been counting down to this since I started following you in 2011. So happy you have finally reached the Big Day.
I have just recently retired from work. I love to stitch - mainly traditional pieces of counted work always in Linen and generally with DMC or silks. My other love is reading and I visit the local library nearly every week. My elderly mother lives with me. She is increasingly deaf and quite blind and in this blog is known affectionately as the DBEM.

Oh dear! I fully expect to have enough time to do what I plan - will just have to plan wisely:-)
Thank you very much. We are both looking forward to this new era.
Thanks so much. I do have a list of many things I want to do and hopefully will be able to.
Thank you Ann. We are looking forward to having more time together to enjoy shared interests. Both of us seem to have plans for my retirement:-)

I'm finding the transition more of a shock than I expected but so far so good
I'm happy to have reached the Big R but it is strange transitioning to a slower life style
