Sewing

July 2013
Butterick B5466  to pattern with added length -  took in a substantial amount on side seams
Lapped zip
Fabric from Royal Oak Sewing Centre Wool/Viscose mix -  slightly too thick but certainly warm
(Bought because it would match the cream jacket I already own)
Fully lined in black pongee
With my Max jacket which is now too big - will I be bothered taking this in?

I'm pleased with the matching plaid on side seams

And the matching on the back seam too
Pull that sweater down and straighten those rounded shoulders Margaret!
Taken with self timer on my Nikon Coolpix.

Another dress - using the same pattern as that above.
Simplicity 1914AA Amazing Fit Adjusted for hunched back, back zipper replaced with right side lapped zipper in black (look you can't see the zipper!).  I removed the pleats from the front and gathered  instead.   Front facing lowered by half an inch.

January 2014
Another dress -  By London's Anna pattern.   I lengthened the bodice and replaced the centre back zipper with a side lapped zipper. All vertical seams were overlocked ie 10mm.   Neckline adjustments were made on the muslin and traced onto a new pattern piece.   Pattern cut to Midi length.
Fabric is Indigo Navy and White Japanese print from Spotlight.   Sleeves were edged in Navy ribbon and waist seam bound in self-bias.   Belt is my own.

May 2014
Another dress - Amazing Fit 1653    I cut a straight size 14 and took five inches from the length of  View B ; sleeves the length of View A.  Added two inches to sleeve length -  probably needed to add four.   Everything else sewn to the pattern.   Fabric a soft knit fabric (polyester/wool) from Moreland Fabrics (New Lynn)   Probably needs a slightly firmer knit fabric.   With this fabric no need to overlock any seams.   Hem is hand stitched in herringbone.
Would make again a  short sleeve version for summer.
Front view -  my fingers at the tie belt.
Close up to the tie belt -  this is a faux wrap.
Back view.
