Someone once asked me how I could eat lamb after seeing them in the field. My response was that when I see them I say, "Isn't that clever? Mobile lamb chops!"
Oh Margaret, I don't like to think of things like this. I know that over here it's turkey but for some reason it seems less awful than those little cute lambs.
Ann, with the exception of vegetarians most NZ'ers are not at all sentimental about these things. We raise sheep for food and wool and give thanks to God that both are so useful.
SOmehow my mind easily seperates between 'oh, how cute!' and 'yum, so delicious!'. In fact, I tend to value animals that are both more than those that are just one of these things ;)
I did not know you ate lamb for Christmas Dinner! You learn something new every day. I am not sentimental over farm animals, it's nice that these lambs can play freely and I do like seeing the free range piggies we have over here.
